Paul Continues to Remain Stable

The Medical Team is slowly bringing him out of his induced coma. This is a very gradual process, and is an important step as it enables them to start their assessment of his injuries. On the one hand, there are some encouraging signs, but at the same time, new challenges emerge as the days pass. I learned earlier today that he is starting to move his hands and his fingers, with more movement on the left hand than the right. The eye lids are also starting to twitch, and he has been coughing. However, he a lung infection and this is something the critical care team has to manage. My sense is this is something they expected, and are trying to overcome.

Penny is returning to Austria to be with him on Monday afternoon. William has come home from Harrow for the evening and will then head back to school on Sunday evening.

Penny Back in London; Paul Stable

Penny returned to London earlier this afternoon having spent this week in Feldkirch with Paul. I understand she plans to return to Austria on Monday or Tuesday next week.

Paul remains stable after his surgery on Wednesday.

Five Hour Operation

Paul had five hours of surgery yesterday. Penny called me this morning to say that he remains in a stable condition post the operation. I understand that the medical team sought to stem the loss of cerebral fluid. I also gather that an ENT specialist was involved in what were a number of complex procedures.

The length of surgery surely reminds us about the seriousness of his condition. This was also his second major operation in seven days.

The present plan is that she will return home to London for the weekend before heading out to Austria again early next week to be with Paul.

A Prayer for Paul

Psalm 31 In te, Domine, aperavi

In you, O Lord, have I taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame:
deliver me in your rightousness

Incline your ear to me;
make haste to deliver me.

Be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe,
for you are my crag and my stronghold;
for the sake of your name, lead me and guide me.

Take me out of the net that they have secretly set for me,
for you are my tower of strength.

Into your hands I commend my spirit,
for you have redeemed me,
O Lord, O God of truth
